Somerset Life article!
Well, I can officially spill the beans now. These are my little Christmas trees as seen in the Oct/Nov/Dec 2009 issue of Somerset Life! I submitted these, gee, in the spring I think. I heard back early summer that they were selected for a feature article (I almost fell off my chair). So I sent in an article, they took the pictures and, well, here it is!

Sewing Saga
I took a wonderful class with Mary Kerr http://www.marywkerr.com/
this week at Artistic Artifacts http://www.artisticartifacts.com/
The challenge was to create a small quilt using a surprise kit of vintage blocks, buttons and trims. It involved working with mostly fabric; fortunately my kit included an old pattern so I was able to work in some paper as well! The first step was to layout our piece. When it came time to sew, I was trying to wind a bobbin and on the third try, I forgot to put down the little piece that holds the bobbin in place and when I hit the gas, there was an awful noise (that everyone in the class heard!) and the casing popped out and the needle broke. I thought I was dead in the water, but Judy, the proprietress of the store, was kind (and brave!) enough to let me use her machine!
I was pretty tickled with the end result. This is a great way to honor treasured vintage family linens and sewing notions. Thanks for a great class, Mary!

Vintage Masquerade Costume Pages
I found these wonderful pages (and more!) from a 1920s pattern book this past weekend. After some mental anguish, I've decided to offer them as color copies on the site (something I swore I'd never do!) Some people have expressed an interest in reprints, so I figured I'd give it a go. Let me know what you think!

Still journaling ...
Today I caught Daisy dozing on the deck ... after she'd romped thru some mud and had a small leafy branch stuck under her collar!
It was back-to-school for my little one this past week. I missed him during the day! What better way to cope than by journaling? Influenced by Teresa McFayden's online journal ezine, I've been dabbling with my watercolors.
