Snowmen = Clean Fridge

I'm ramping up production of snowmen for the holidays. Last night I decided I wanted to make a bunch today, but didn't have enough jars in my stash. So I cleaned out my fridge ... out went the expired olives and jellies and salad dressing ... and when I was done, I had a bunch of supplies (and a clean fridge!)

Holiday production

I've started making my spool trees for a couple of boutiques around town. Love making things for the holidays, but it means my work space will be a disaster area for the next two months! I've got fabric and ribbons and beads and trims and dogs and sparkles all over the place! Yes, dogs ... over 8 rooms in this house and they both have to be within 2 feet of me! Well, there are worse things than being loved I guess. (Don't think I've introduced Allie ... that's her asleep next to the chair. We call her the saint because she's such a good dog). Meanwhile, Daisy is snuggling with the fabric.

1,000!

Sometime during the chaos of this past week, we had our 1,000th sale! To celebrate, we're offering 10% off orders thru next Friday, lucky Nov 13. Just use coupon code CELEBRATE when checking out. Thanks to all of our customers who've made our little store a success.
We were asked recently how we keep all that ephemera straight. Simple, really. It's truly a labor of love.

Colorful news!

Well, I've got another bit of exciting news ... one of my journals was selected for "Creative Ways with Books & Journals", the new book recently released by Sue Bleiweiss and Terry Stegmiller. http://www.suebleiweiss.com
I call this my "Color Journal". I’ve been saving my colored pencil “nubs” for several years, wanting to use them for a special project. Then one day I got the idea to attach them to the cover of a journal. The base of the journal is an old hardback Reader’s Digest condensed book. I removed the interior pages and then stitched in my own colorful monoprint pages using old paintbrushes as an anchor on the spine. I covered the front with the colored pencil nubs and on the back, I created a collage using an old Crayola box and paper wrappers from crayons. What I particularly like about this journal is that every item that was attached to it … the pencils, brushes and crayons (or the wrappers that were on the crayons) were all tools that I used at one time to create colorful artwork.
So, needless to say, I am extremely tickled! (PS - The wonderful photos were taken by Sue)
