Don't Throw it Away!!!

Hello and happy 6th day of Christmas! I'm doing a little "12 Days of Christmas" piece in my journal ... it was all very serendipitous as I drew 12 squares on a random page a few weeks ago (I believe I got the idea from Pam Garrison's blog) and it happened that page came up right around Christmas, so I've been having fun filling in those squares.
And speaking of journals, oh my gosh, I just had to share this! This morning I popped my journal, pencils and the latest issue of Cloth Paper Scissors into my studio recycling bin because I wanted to carry it all down to the kitchen along with a huge load of laundry, so I was consolidating. Well, one thing led to another and I had to leave before I emptied my bin. When I got home, I found my bin sitting on the garage steps ... EMPTY! My heart jumped and I ran to the outside trash bin, then to my studio, then it finally dawned on me to check the big recyclying bin ... and there was my journal, hiding amongst the empty cereal and saline solution boxes! Only after I rescued it and the CPS magazine, did I realize the irony of the big headline on the cover of the current issue ... "Don't Throw It Away!"
PS - I found out who the culprit was and I really can't blame her as it *was* in the recycling bin!
PS#2 - We've been posting a ridiculous amount of new stuff to the store ... hop on over and check it out! http://www.thepaperfleamarket.com/

Holiday decorations - Day 3

This is part of a garland I made with old holiday cards, some sparkly trim, Diamond Dust, string and a few vintage odds and ends.
We went to see Santa today and I was thinking, boy, kids are so lucky ... they get to ask Santa for anything! Got me to thinking what I'd wish for ... maybe a bag of creativity and inspiration to last me through the whole year ...

Holiday decorations - Day 2

I'm such a sucker for snowmen ... love them! I wish I could take credit for making this little guy ... don't you just love his vintage rhinestone shoe buckle hat?
Starting to feel the effects of shoveling snow Saturday and Sunday and today. Got a pot of homemade vegetable soup on the stove for dinner ... can hardly wait!

Holiday decorations - Day 1

This is a collection of old ornaments I collected through the year at estate sales mostly. I love the muted colors, and especially the pink bell.
I've been seeing some wonderful holiday decorations out there in Blogland, so I was inspired to share a few of my own. As a challenge to myself, I'm going to post a new image everyday til Christmas. Enjoy!

*S*N*O*W*

Like many of you, we're experiencing the epic storm on the east coast ... LOVE IT! I'm a huge snow fan and was delighted that the forecast was true. At last check, we've had about 20 inches. I'm very lucky that none of us have to be anywhere, so selfishly, I'm very happy, happy!

Snow party!

One week ago today (yeah, I'm a little behind) we had about 5 inches of snow ... that might not be big news for some of you, but for those of us in northern Virginia where it's either wet but too warm or cold but too dry, that's very big news! So I was inspired to make more snowmen! Most of these were sold at Chick's Picks (http://www.chickspicksbyhillary.com/) this past week ... I know they went to good homes ...
Finally posted some new things to the store ... check them out! www.thepaperfleamarket.com

Beginning to look at lot like Christmas ...

Got the Charlie Brown CD playing and the sewing machine fired up! Here's the forest of trees I've made so far. Would like to make another 20 this weekend. Someone asked how tall they are ... they average around 12 inches. My trees are being sold online at a lovely boutique that's owned by a friend of mine. She's got an awesome selection of unique items ... check out her site. http://www.chickspicksbyhillary.com/
And here's Daisy ... I've got fabric, ribbons and trims all over the floor ... she decided to nap on one of the piles!
Happy holiday creating!
