Country Living watch!

Well, it's official. I actually saw the picture of my watch on page 32 in the July issue of Country Living magazine while standing in the frozen food aisle at the grocery store! I can't believe my work, let alone my name, is in a well-known magazine that you can find in just about any store that sells magazines! What a thrill!
That's mine at the top. The watches are being sold through the Chick's Picks boutique (http://www.chickspicksbyhillary.com/). Hillary says they're doing well so far ... so much so that I'm working on them while on vacation. But honestly, it's not really "work". It's so much fun to make these little jingley timepieces out of vintage and recycled treasures. It's The Paper Flea Market philosophy, after all!

Feeling nostalgic

For those who don't know me, I'm a real sap. This weekend, I saw the new "Toy Story 3" movie and it got me feeling nostalgic for my old toys, especially my favorite old teddy bear. So I pulled him off a shelf and had him join me on the deck for a journaling session. Doesn't he look happy to be out and about?
Watching the movie reminded me that The Paper Flea Market and all my wonderful customers are doing a great service to all the old, neglected, forgotten and unwanted stuff out there. So on behalf of all those cast-offs, thanks everybody!

Sketchbook project

As I'm such a big fan of art journaling, this sketchbook project really caught my eye. I'm signing up! Anybody else interested?

Surprising finds

This is what I saw as I walked up to an estate sale today ... look at this house! I was told it was built in 1891, had been in the same family since the 1940s, but that no one had lived there for about 20 years. There was a little bird nest right over the front door. But no one was allowed in! The contents of the home were being brought outdoors. Lots of furniture, including this charming little yellow bookcase that I just could not pass up (especially with the quirkly little top piece missing!)
So no paper goods, but there's another sale tomorrow, so fingers crossed!

Getting back to business!

Got to do some serious treasure-hunting this weekend and that was followed by a lot of picture-taking and posting. So needless to say, there are a number of new finds at the store today! Here's a sneak peek if you can't wait ...

Where'd May go?

So I can't believe it's June already. Where the heck did May go? Oh that's right ... family celebrations, two art conferences, a vendor show and a Chick's Picks boutique www.chickspicksbyhillary.com Wow. I feel like I've been running a marathon for 4 weeks and now I finally have a chance to catch my breath ... and post new goodies and work on another "Remains of the Day" book (the "I'll just toss it over there and sew it onto a page later" pile is getting mighty high) and do a lot more art journaling and go treasure hunting and attempt to tidy up my workspace which is really starting to look like my grandmother's house (the one who would say "I'll clear a path for you" whenever you told her you were coming for a visit ... and she meant it literally!) So I thought I'd share a few things I've been working on for Chick's Picks. These little ruffle tote bags are getting some attention. And did I mention that this little charm bracelet watch is supposed to be in an upcoming issue of Country Living? I'll let you know when that's out.
OK ... I'm going to go post goodies to the store right now! www.thepaperfleamarket.com
