Ga-ga for garland

Been playing around with more garland. Got this idea from the holiday issue of Country Living magazine. The base of this garland is a piece of twine. And tied to it is about a jillion strips of scrap cloth! My mom and I made this one. We especially liked the shimmer created by the sparkly tulle and metallic double knit polyester material! I see more of these in my future ... they're not just for Christmas ... wouldn't this be beautiful on the pews for a wedding?!

Chained to my desk ...

I wanted to make paper chains before Christmas to hang in my workroom ... but didn't get to them til today. Oh well ... they're fun any time of year! My mom, son and I put these together in a couple of hours, using old dictionary pages ("Mom, why do you like old dictionaries so much?") and lots of glitter! We were sparkly all over by the end of the afternoon!

So sweet!

Found these cute little knit candy canes at a barn sale a few weeks ago. Seeing as I don't know how to knit, these fascinate me! Aren't they sweet?

Surprise snow!

We had a nice surprise snowfall yesterday here in Virginia, so I set up this little scene to capture the moment. Made the little snowmen last year using "fusion paper" (made with holiday-themed napkins and other paper), old fibers and some vintage costume jewelry. The other little fellow was a lucky flea market find!

Joyeux Noel

The shows for the season are done and now I'm making things for friends and even for me! Been doing some soldering ... the base of each ornament is a little ceramic ball. Thank goodness solder doesn't stick to ceramic! (ps - risked frosbitten fingers to get a good photo outside today ... it's cold and w-i-n-d----y!)

The red tree!

The red one really turned out well, if I may be so bold. Was going to keep it, but somebody loved it as much I did, so I decided to let it go ... I can make another ...

My little snow family

In keeping with today's snowman theme, thought I'd introduce this little family ... there's mom and dad and little Mason. Next to the paper trees, I love making these little guys most! I think I've created close to 50 this season!

A Paper tree & some holiday freebies!

Yay, December is here! I'm unveiling a tree I made using lots of beautiful old paper . I was inspired by the tree on page 12 of the current issue of "Holiday" by Matthew Mead. Once I started making this one, I have to admit I got a bit addicted and started a whole forest ... they're currently in various stages of completion ...
Topper is an old rhinestone earring.
Love Diamond Dust!
Holiday freebies! I've decided to share some of my vintage holiday stash with you electronically! These are some of my favorites that I have so few of, so can't bear to part with the originals. Every day until December 21st, I will post a new image for you to print out and use in your holiday crafting. You'll find it in the upper right-hand bar of the blog. This is my first time trying something like this, so let me know if you encounter any problems along the way.
Fa la la la la!
