Dig Finds!

While I was in Brimfield, I met the most charming young man who had a booth filled with beautiful old bottles. That's what first drew me in. But after I selected a few bottles to buy, my eye wandered over to the little table with a pile of rusty stuff and a little hand-written sign that read "dig finds". Be still my heart! I asked the young man about these, and he said that he and his friends like to go out and dig up old things. Well, I told him that I had friends who like to *buy* old things, so I just got myself a great big pile of rusted metal, broken bits of combs and kitchen utensils, some kerosene lamp parts, a sardine tin and even some ceramic bottle stoppers. There were 2 fantastic almost-completely-rusted-out license plates that I passed on, but now I'm kinda regretting that. Anybody interested in those? He said there's always more inventory, and I said great! So hop on over and take a look at some of these incredible finds. If you like them, I will get more! http://www.thepaperfleamarket.com/dig-finds.html

Posting Brimfield goodies!

Starting to post some Brimfield goodies ... this is just the tip of the iceberg! Like these labels right out of a type shop in Boston. These oversized city document pages with lots of yummy stamped dates and numbers all over them. And these fabulously oversized picture bulletin board cards from 1959 ... LOVE! Will continue to post more, so hop on over and take a look! www.thepaperfleamarket.com

Brimfield wrap-up

OK, one more post about the cool stuff at Brimfield, then I promise to start showing what I found for all of you! A couple of you asked if I got the desk with the cubbies ... sadly, no. Just no place for it in my recently-reorganized-and-now-not-so-cluttered workspace. I *did*, however, get this awesome US Mail sign ... it's metal and is the kind they used to strap to the top of a car (in rural areas I assume). I may have run out of floor space, but I can still hang things from the ceiling! Also got the mail bag ... in case you can't tell, I've kinda got a thing for post office-related items. Which is why it was hard to pass up this treasure, too ... look at all those beautiful doors and mail cubbies! Loved, loved, loved this street sign, too ... but, alas, no place to put it, so I had to settle for a picture instead. Cool letters were everywhere! And hardware, too ... Got this table ... FOR FREE ... for my friends who paint furniture ... Also met some interesting people ... a man who creates props for the theatre, a charming fellow who makes magnifying glasses using old parasols for the base and a darling young man who plays the violin, sells old bottles and digs for treasure ... more on that soon!

This time next week, I'll be in Brimfield, Mass for the big, Big, BIG sale there! What's Brimfield you may ask? According to their website, the "Brimfield Show is a huge, vast undertaking, filled with thousands of dealers ... selling everything from the finest antiques to 'yard junk'***, requiring a day or two to see everything there is to see." I'm going with two friends who are driving back a truck, so there will be lots of room for treasures!I've never been and can hardly wait! In order to clear out room for all the goodies I plan to bring back, I've decided to have a sale this weekend ... both in the virtual and the real world. For any purchases made on-line thru Sunday midnight (EST), use coupon code BRIMFIELD to get 25% off your entire order! And if any of you live in the Northern Virginia area, I'm having a yard sale on Saturday, May 7 (if you're in the area, drop me an e-mail at thepaperfleamarket@yahoo.com and I'll give you directions) *** Yard junk ... yeah, that's where I'll be!
