And just like that ... it's D*O*N*E!

Just finished the ruffled tablecloth! I'm not one to go about tooting my own horn, but TOOT-TOOT! It turned out beautifully! 4 sides x 6 tiers = 24 rows of ruffle-y, fabric-y deliciousness. Will post a better picture when it's on the table this weekend (I don't actually own the table ... I just make to fit dimensions)
So that kinda explains why I haven't posted much lately. Went to *two* fab sales on Friday. Will post pics of those tomorrow. Right now ... yawn ... zzzzzzz.

Latest project

Some of you may remember about a year and a half ago when I created a ruffled tablecloth using shades of white and cream. Well, I've been asked to make another one, but this time with a Spring theme for a special event in two weeks. Lots of pinks, blues, greens, checks, flowers, etc. Here are a few pics of the first day's work. I get such a kick out of turning old pieces of fabric, napkins, curtains, etc. that I've found at sales and thrift shops and turning them into something gorgeous!

Shedding a little light

Yep, that's me. Country Living, April issue, page 36. Allow me to take you back in time ... to my post on Jan 1 where I was yammering on about trying new things and how I received a request to make something Id never done before blah, blah, blah. Well, this is it! Country Living asked for a lampshade dipped in paint. I'd never done that before. Slight learning curve, lots of paint and newspapers, but I figured it out!

Springing forward with reckless abandon

Some days, like today, when I can't get motivated to create, I like to blindly pull papers from my big bag of scraps and start gluing and stitching them down to make new journal pages. I call it creating with reckless abandon! And no cheating ... whatever is pulled from the bag has to be used. I had my little conscience sitting next to me keeping me honest ("Mom ...") It's a good exercise.

Art journal saga. Part 2

This is the chapter in which I am so distracted about losing my journal that I accidentially mail my idea notebook to California, then find my journal. And buy someone a cookie.

FOUND! Turns out my journal was playing a really good game of hide + seek. It was found this afternoon by the service advisor *under* the driver's seat of my car! I was so happy I bought him a cookie. My cheeky little journal, on the other hand ... I think I'll put it on a leash ... or at the very least put my name + # inside. Relief.

Before all this euphoria, however, I was still very distracted about my journal. So much so that when I was at the post office boxing up a customer's order, I absent-mindedly packed my idea notebook! I didn't realize this until after I left the post office and was looking for my notebook. When I went into the post office, it was in my bag. When I left, it wasn't. So ... there's a customer in California who is going to get a surprise (and an e-mail from me tonight!) What is wrong with me? Egads!

Art journal saga. Part 1

This is the chapter in which I take my car to be serviced, misplace my art journal and eat way too many Oreos.

LOST: Art journal. CONTACT: Devastated! This evening, between dropping off my car to be serviced and getting into the loaner, I left my journal behind. Called the dealer and they didn't see it, but the guy I dealt with had gone home. Hopefully he found it and put it in a safe place. Or took it home to read. I really don't care, as long as I get it back! (there's nothing that juicy in it, plus no one can read my handwriting) My good friend has affirmed it's not lost ... just on an adventure ... fingers crossed ...

COLOR!

Had the chance to escape to Florida for a few days. Besides the sunshine warming my skin, I was most excited by COLOR!
I'm going to print this one out, paste it in my journal and write all over the sky.
I can't remember the last time I was so excited to sit + watch the grass grow.
There's a bird in there, taking a bath.
Sand sculpture in the lobby of a hotel. All hail King Neptune!
Went to the movies ... at this place, you can order dinner + popcorn + they bring it right to you! (Betcha can guess which one I saw ... hint ... it's in my banner)
This little guy is living *the* life!
Cheery, cheery. Cheer, cheer. Stay tuned. Spring is coming to a garden near you soon!
